ZANY ZANESVILLE

We ran this as a mystery trip a few years back and had so much fun that we want to share it again. We will take a potato chip factory tour and sample chips right off the line! We’ll visit a famous sculpture studio, an art market, a stoneware shop full of beautiful hand crafted pieces, and of course, have lunch. Who knew there was so much to do - we do!  Payment by April 20. 1L  Activity Level 4 (factory tour, stairs).

We are headed north to visit 3 different quilt shops.  Looking for a new project or something special for a project you are working on??  Or maybe you just enjoy looking at all the wonderful ideas offered and beautiful quality fabrics. Always a popular trip! We'll start our morning at the West Side Market before we attend a morning concert at Severance Hall. After the concert, we'll have lunch in Little Italy before heading to the Cleveland Museum of Art for a docent led tour and time to explore on your own.  Payment by April 20. 1L (Note: At the Museum of Art, there is as much or as little walking as you choose).   Activity Level 3 or 4, your choice.

SCHEDEL GARDENS & HAYES HOME/MUSEUM

All-inclusive price $145/person

Schedel Gardens is a 17 acre garden & arboretum. In addition to many unusual and exotic species of trees and upwards of 10,000 annual plants and flowers, the Schedel Arboretum & Gardens maintains several themed garden displays where one will find unique presentations of plants and hardscapes designed to enhance the experience of appreciating nature. They also display and maintain the largest lithopane collection in the world.  We will have a docent led tour of the gardens and lithopanes. After an included lunch, we’ll tour the Rutherford B Hayes home with time to explore the Presidential Library and Museum - one of the first Presidential Libraries established in 1916. It will make for a great day away.  Payment by May 20.  1L  Activity Level 4  (walking, stairs). Note: There is limited golf cart use at the gardens for those that require it for the garden tour.

Lerner and Loewe's MY FAIR LADY quickly earned the title of "the perfect musical", breaking Broadway records and enchanting audiences worldwide with its wit, romance, and unforgettable score. Lunch and shopping prior at the Pine Tree Barn prior to the matinee show. Payment by June 5. 1L Note: Pine Tree Barn has stairs and uneven floors in some areas, therefore, rated Activity level 3.

A DAY AT CHAUTAUQUA

It's America at 250 week! American documentary filmmaker, historian, and writer Ken Burns will be speaking at Chautauqua to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America along with Jeffrey Rosen, President/CEO of the National Constitution Center.  After the morning speakers, we’ll have lunch at the historic Atheneum Hotel with free time to explore the quaint town and shops of Chautauqua. We'll stop at the Grape Discovery Center for tour/taste before heading home.  Always an enjoyable and informative day away.  Payment by July 1. 1L, tasting, snacks.  Activity Level is 4 ( A lot of walking with inclines) but there is a shuttle service available.

ASIAN LANTERN FESTIVAL @ THE CLEVELAND ZOO

 If you haven’t seen this - you really should attend! The Asian Lantern Festival is visually beautiful and inspiring with its large-scale lantern displays, live acrobatic performances, culturally-inspired cuisine and a variety of interactive and themed areas. Our plan is to have dinner prior to our night-time visit. Note: This is a walk-thru event on a paved path through the zoo. (Rental scooters may be available for an additional charge and reservations made by you. ) Payment by July 13. 1D  Activity Level 4.

 We love looking for unique treasures and bargains and turns out you do too! Such fun visiting various thrift and consignment shops, along with shops with a lot of “stuff” that aren’t in our “neck of the woods”. Lunch is included. You never know where we’ll end up.  Come along for a day of treasure trekking. Payment by August 10. 1 L  Activity Level 2.

BOOS & BITES

It’s Trick or Treat Adult style because ghouls (and guys) just want to have fun! We’ll head to the Grand River Valley wine trail with various winery stops to have wine tasting or a mini cocktail (or a juice drink for those that do not partake) along with an appetizer at each stop. Depending on mother nature, we may see some lovely scenery as well.  A light lunch is included at the first stop before we “trick or treat” our way to 3 other wineries. Payment by September 8. TREES AND A TREASURE

Hopefully fall will be showing her beautiful colors at the Holden Arboretum. Take a walk with our naturalist or explore on your own (maybe the canopy walk is calling you!).  Then we’ll head to the Steele Mansion for lunch/program/tour. The story of this grandest home in Painesville is fascinating and the owner is a hoot!.  We’ll stop at a fruit farm before heading home.  Payment by September 16. 1L Activity Level 4.

Kick off the holidays with a visit to Mr. Klaus himself (that’s Mark Klaus…not Santa) as we tour his unique, fascinating and fun Castle Noel chock full of lavish store front window displays from NY, movie props, toys from the our childhood and much more.  It will bring back so many memories of holidays past. We’ll have lunch, shopping time in quaint downtown Medina and tour the McDowell-Phillips house before heading home.   Payment by October 20. 1L Activity Level 4.
